the Headmistresses

The 2026 school year begins under the best possible auspices for our school, building on its achievements, the richness of its projects and the commitment of its entire educational community.

The excellent results achieved in the French national examinations, both in the Baccalauréat and the Diplôme National du Brevet (DNB), once again demonstrate the quality of education provided at the LFIB and the dedication of our students and teachers.

In the 2026 Baccalauréat, our pass rate reached 100%. Among our graduates, 30.91% achieved the highest honours (mention Très bien), including 10.91% who received the jury’s special distinction. These outstanding achievements were complemented by equally excellent results in the DNB.

Beyond their examination results, we are particularly proud of the higher-education pathways pursued by our students, which reflect the quality and diversity of the journeys they have undertaken at the LFIB. Our graduates have gained places on selective programmes in France and internationally, including at Sciences Po Paris, in preparatory classes for France’s Grandes Écoles, at CentraleSupélec through an international programme with McGill University, at EDHEC Business School, and at engineering and business schools, as well as leading French and international universities. Some are continuing their studies in the Netherlands, Canada, China, Spain and Thailand, in fields as varied as political science, engineering, medicine, economics, artificial intelligence, the arts and the humanities.

These achievements are underpinned by a demanding educational framework whose quality was once again recognised this year through the renewal of our school’s official accreditation by the French Ministry of Education. This recognition represents both a guarantee for families and a commitment from all our staff: to uphold, here in Bangkok, the values, curricula and high standards of the French education system, while fully embracing our international environment.

1957–2027: 70 Years of History and a Future Ahead

This school year will also be particularly significant, as from January 2027 onwards, we will celebrate our school’s 70th anniversary. From 1957 to 2027, seven decades of history have shaped the LFIB, supported generations of students and contributed to the influence of French education in Thailand.

This anniversary will provide an opportunity to bring our shared history to life and honour all those who have built and helped our school to grow, while also looking resolutely towards the future. Throughout 2027, a series of special events will bring together students, staff, families, alumni, partners and friends of the LFIB to celebrate our shared history and the values that unite us.

Our ability to combine heritage with a forward-looking vision is fully reflected in our School Development Plan. Drawn up in 2025, our 2025–2028 School Development Plan was updated in July 2026 to set out the priorities and actions for the 2026–2027 school year. It provides the framework for our work and translates into practical action our ambitions for our students’ success, personal development and openness to the world.

This year, more than one hundred educational, cultural, scientific, sporting and citizenship projects will bring this plan to life. They will give our students numerous opportunities to learn in different ways, develop their curiosity, independence and creativity, become actively involved and take full ownership of their educational journey.

The French Aeronautics Initiation Certificate (BIA) is very much part of this dynamic. Renewed this year following its successful launch, the programme reflects our determination to broaden our students’ horizons, inspire new aspirations and enable them to explore science and technology through a different, hands-on approach.

The LFIB also stands out for the richness of its language provision. English naturally plays a major role, alongside Spanish, German and Mandarin Chinese. The different pathways available enable every student to gradually develop a genuinely multilingual and international profile.

Our identity is also that of a deeply multicultural and multilingual school. In Bangkok, at the heart of Asia, students of different nationalities, languages and cultures learn and grow together. This diversity is one of the LFIB’s greatest strengths: it fosters openness to others, a better understanding of the world and the development of informed, responsible citizenship.

Our ambition is therefore to combine academic excellence, international outlook, multilingualism, innovation and the personal fulfilment of every student, from Early Years to Year 13. We want to prepare our students to succeed in their studies, of course, but also to become curious, responsible and independent young people who are able to find their place in a constantly changing world.

As we approach our 70th anniversary, we can take pride in how far we have come and look confidently towards the future we have yet to build. The LFIB will continue to evolve, innovate and uphold the highest ambitions of French education in Bangkok, remaining true to its history while looking resolutely towards the future.

This ambition can only be achieved together. I would like to extend my warmest thanks to our staff for their commitment, to our families for their trust, and to our students for their energy and enthusiasm.
