🇫🇷 Commemoration of the Armistice of November 11 at LFIB 🇫🇷
As part of the commemorations of the armistice of November 11, 1918, marking the end of the First World War, the LFIB organized a beautiful remembrance event for 3ᵉ students.
Mr.Yvernes, a schoolchild’s parent, took the opportunity to present several period objects that belonged to his grandfather, then sub-prefect: a bicorne, a kepi and a bayonet. These rare items, steeped in history, will be on display at the CCC for a week.
In addition, students were able to discover ten gouaches painted by Mr. Yvernes’ grandfather during his captivity in the Buchenwald officers’ camp, illustrating daily life in the camps during the Second World War.
The 3ᵉ students then read aloud, in French and Thai, extracts from “Paroles de poilus” – poignant letters written by French soldiers to their families from the front.
👏 Many thanks to Mr. Yvernes for his invaluable contribution, and to Mr. Tourbillon and Mr.Vilaça for organizing this moving tribute.
